For quickest action and to keep everyone up-to-date, post on this blog, SavingGrandLake.com. You can comment only when logged-in after registering. Adding new ‘Posts’ or Articles is just as easy, your first submission will be reviewed and then you may ‘copy’ (keep everyone in the loop via posts) the blog with all contacts via mail and email or just reach out through blog posts and comments.
Are you physically capable and have a boat available?
Then you could check how to:
volunteer as a Water Monitor for OEPA
volunteer to mark and/or pull stumps
place and monitor barley straw testing sites
Do you have helpful time to volunteer?
be a judge at the LIA Barstool Open
make cookies and/or assist children at the Fishing Derby
Are you a landowner in the GLSM watershed?
Be a good steward of your land. Protect your neighbors and community by allowing no runoff.
Are you a recreational visitor to the lake area?
Don’t litter or dump any waste into the lake. Observe ‘No Wake’ zones which prevent erosion of the lake’s banks.
Do you have any interest/connection with Grand Lake St. Marys?
Join the Lake Improvement Association. They hold monthly meetings in Celina and provide an informative newsletter of the meeting’s minutes. Even if you don’t attend a single meeting, your voice is added to many more, giving the LIA a significant voice in Grand Lake matters.
Donate now to the Grand Lake St. Marys Lake Water Quality Improvement Fund. Your tax-deductible donation will see results here!
Do you need to report an incident?
The more timely and complete your report can be made the better. Get photos, if possible, and report to the correct agency or group (of course, you may additionally ‘copy’, post, and comment here).
For a suspected mis-application of manure or manure spill, use the Soil & Water Conservation District’s Form.
For a ‘Fish Kill’ or on-the-lake type environmental abuse, contact Grand Lake St. Marys State Park personnel
and/or Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources
If you are unable or unwilling to handle reporting yourself, please let me know–we want the information to be reported and can report in your behalf if needed. As always, you may at least comment ‘anonymously’ here at the Saving Grand Lake blog.
