But I'm thinking of buying a home on Grand Lake and I'm concerned about its future. I'm looking for an overview of Grand Lake Saint Mary's environmental status and the challenges that it faces. I see here that back in 2008 $1 million will be used for projects to improve the lake, but exactly what are these projects? I've heard rumors of an ethanol plant and the possibility of new agricultural threats to the lake and I certainly don't want to invest in a home if St. Mary's can't be used as an enjoyable recreation lake. What's the status of this? This website has some good info, but doesn't really give an overview of the lakes' status, or clearly define the goals of what "saving grand lake" is all about. And who are the members and sponsors of the Lake Improvement Association? Can anyone join? Any insight would be much appreciated.
